Although our Charter is dated March 3, 1922, there was an IBEW Local #409 in Ithaca from May 26, 1903 through 1908, and a Local #486 from 1915 to 1916. Also, we were not the first IBEW Local #241. Four other cities carried the #241 charter before us. Pittsburgh, Pa. was chartered as Local #241 on March 1, 1902. Dayton, Ohio on October 27, 1902. Springfield, Mass on September 8, 1914, and Seattle, Wash. On April 20, 1917. We have a long and proud heritage. As with most unions, our members and their families have made many sacrifices through the years that continue to benefit all of us today. Fortunately we have experienced an abundance of work and able, dedicated leadership.
